HonestFigure exists to do one thing well: give people honest, accurate money tools that explain themselves.
Most financial calculators online hand you a number and walk away. Worse, many sites wrapping those calculators exist mainly to funnel you toward a product they earn a commission on — the "calculator" is really a sales funnel. We built HonestFigure as the opposite of that. Every tool here shows the working behind the result, so you understand the decision, not just the digit. We don't take lead-generation kickbacks for steering you toward any financial product.
Who's behind it
HonestFigure is built and maintained by a financial-compliance professional with over a decade of experience in financial crime prevention and regulatory compliance. That background shapes everything here in two ways. First, accuracy: every calculator is checked against the underlying financial formula, and every article is written to be correct, not just clickable. Second, a healthy scepticism of the financial industry's habit of hiding the real cost of things behind attractive headlines — a theme you'll notice running through much of our content.
Our principles
- Free and open. No account, no paywall, no email required to use any tool.
- Privacy-first. The numbers you type into our calculators stay in your browser. We never see them.
- Honest, not salesy. We explain trade-offs plainly, including the ones the industry would rather you didn't notice.
- Educational, not advisory. We give you the tools and the understanding to make your own decisions, and we'll always tell you when something genuinely warrants a regulated professional.
How we keep the lights on
HonestFigure is supported by advertising. Those ads let us keep every tool free for everyone, without charging you or selling your data. We keep advertising clearly separated from our content, and our recommendations are never for sale.
